Fitness Sorting Criteria
Central banks define fitness criteria to determine whether a banknote should remain in circulation or be destroyed. Our machines evaluate each note against these standards in real time, sorting them accordingly.
Defect Types
Soil / Stain
Dirt, ink, or discoloration on the banknote surface that affects readability or appearance.
Tape
Adhesive tape applied to repair tears. Taped notes are typically classified as unfit.
Tear
Rips or cuts along the edge or body of the note, compromising structural integrity.
Hole
Missing material within the note body, often from staple removal or wear.
Corner Fold
Bent or dog-eared corners that affect machine feeding and stacking quality.
Graffiti
Written marks, stamps, or drawings on the note that degrade its appearance.
Oil Stain
Translucent oily marks that alter the note's optical properties and sensor readings.
Fold / Crumple
Heavy creases or crumpling that affect the note's dimensions and flatness.
