Defect Types

Soil / Stain

Dirt, ink, or discoloration on the banknote surface that affects readability or appearance.

Tape

Adhesive tape applied to repair tears. Taped notes are typically classified as unfit.

Tear

Rips or cuts along the edge or body of the note, compromising structural integrity.

Hole

Missing material within the note body, often from staple removal or wear.

Corner Fold

Bent or dog-eared corners that affect machine feeding and stacking quality.

Graffiti

Written marks, stamps, or drawings on the note that degrade its appearance.

Oil Stain

Translucent oily marks that alter the note's optical properties and sensor readings.

Fold / Crumple

Heavy creases or crumpling that affect the note's dimensions and flatness.
